How does it work?

Simply fill in the entry form and send it to us along with copies of your students poems, by the deadline of Friday 21 July.

Following this, a panel of judges shortlist the entries, with the winners notified. The top winners of each age group receive cahs prizes and their poem printed in an anthology.

A celebration event takes place on Monday 2 October, where the winning poets will read their poems and will each receive their certificate and prize.

Support Material

This competition is run in conjunction with fantastic local poets, and this year is no exception. Laura Brockbank and Lydia Hall are two Kent-based poets who have worked with the Festival to create the attached teaching resource, full of ideas and exercises to explore the theme and competition with your students.

We are able to offer a workshop in your school with Laura and Lydia, exploring the resource and generating poems for the competition. We have a limited number of free workshops on offer so please get in touch at your earliest convenience to express your interest.

Please feel free to use the teaching resource during your lessons, and please do encourage your students to apply:
