Bringing the arts to our local community
Canterbury Festival is delighted to announce that Kent Refugee Action Network will be working in partnership with the Festival as its LINK 2015 associate. LINK aims to build connections between local communities and the wide variety of creative opportunities found in South East Kent.
KRAN, based at Canterbury Riverside, is an independent charity providing support to asylum seekers and refugees. Their dedicated team provide invaluable support and education for these young people, while seeking to advance the public’s education about the position of refugees and ethnic minorities in society. For KRAN one of their key objectives is to provide students with a varied programme of education. Canterbury Festival will be working alongside staff to deliver Arts Awards to the students and will also enable current staff to be trained in teaching Arts Awards. This will ensure that creative projects and Arts Award qualifications can be achieved by students alongside their core subjects, for years to come.
KRAN are currently looking for new premises in Canterbury. The space needs to accommodate a classroom of 20 students and an attached office. If anyone has any suggested locations please email firstname.lastname@example.org
