The Canterbury Auction Galleries will be opening its doors for an evening with The Very Revd Dr Robert Willis DL. In addition to a fascinating talk, audience members will be given the opportunity to enjoy a private view of the latest auction sale lots (a veritable treasure trove of items) while enjoying complimentary wine and nibbles.
A day in the life of a Dean
The Very Revd Dr Robert Willis, the 39th Dean of Canterbury since the Reformation, was installed in July 2001. He had previously been Dean of Hereford for nine years and has been Chairman of the Deans’ Conference of the Church of England since 1999. He is an honorary Doctor of Divinity of Yale University and Doctor of Civil Law of the University of Kent. In 2008 he was made a Freeman of the City of Canterbury and is a Deputy Lieutenant of the County of Kent. In 2012 he was awarded the Cross of St Augustine for services to the Anglican Communion and is a Knight of the Order of St John.
The Dean of Canterbury will be describing a typical day in his working life - if there is such a thing as normal when you are responsible for Canterbury Cathedral. This is an opportunity to enjoy an evening with Doctor Robert in what is set to be an entertaining and informative talk - a must see.
Schedule of the evening:
