Barham Court Concert

Summer in Barham 2022

We are delighted to present Summer in Barham 2022, our mini-festival fundraiser, celebrating the long days of July with music, talks and walks in the idyllic setting of Barham, just a short journey from the city centre.

Summer in Barham 2022 will run from 20 – 24 July with events taking place within the stunning grounds of Barham Court, as well as Barham Church, village hall and beautiful countryside.

The event begins with two walks exploring the rolling hills, orchards, woods and quirky architecture of Barham and Kingston. Join Penny Morgan on Wednesday 20 July at 10am for a walk from Kingston via Bishopsbourne and the Elham Valley. Then on Thursday 21 July join Tony Walder at 10.30am for a walk around Barham’s beautiful scenery with an optional pub pit-stop at the Jackdaw.

Award-winning chamber group The Brook Street Band presents sumptuous music for flute, recorder, cello and harpsichord. Book a ticket for this concert in the beautiful St. John the Baptist’s Church on Thursday 21 July, 7pm and enjoy works by favourite baroque composers including Bach, Handel and Teleman.

Historian and Managing Director of Canterbury Auction Galleries Dave Parker, presents a poignant talk exploring the pre diary, diary and post diary world of Samuel Pepys and some strangely coincidental comparisons with today. Don’t miss it at Barham Village Hall on Friday 22 July at 7pm.

Over the weekend the picturesque gardens of Barham Court play host to two of Canterbury’s much-loved bands. On Saturday 23 July, 6pm BBC Radio 2 Folk Award Finalists, Gentlemen of Few are back by popular demand for an evening of high-energy, up-beat combination of indie, rock and folk.

Rounding off Summer in Barham on Sunday 24 July are the fabulous KD Jazz and Dance Orchestra. Featuring Ginger Bennet, a rocking rhythm section and a four-horn front line, KD Jazz are guaranteed to get you in the Festival spirit with a set covering everything from Sinatra to Stevie Wonder.

Performances at Bahram Court are outdoors, so be sure to pack a picnic, blanket or camping chairs and an umbrella just in case. Raffles will be taking place on Saturday 23 July and Sunday 24 July with some fabulous prizes available – every ticket purchased will help to raise funds for the annual October Festival and our year-round work.
