Dave Parker: A Peep at Pepys…

Friday 22 July, 7pm

Tickets £12.50 (Incl. £1.50 booking fee)

Barham Village Hall, Valley Rd, Barham, Canterbury CT4 6NX

A somewhat poignant look into the pre diary, diary and post diary world of Samuel Pepys and some strangely coincidental comparisons with today.

Pepys was an English diarist, naval administrator, and member of parliament. As a young man, Pepys kept a detailed diary between 1660-1669 which was first published in the 19th Century. The diary is considered one of the most important primary sources for the English Restoration period, providing personal experiences and eyewitness accounts of events such as the Great Plague of London, the Second Dutch War and the Great Fire of London.

This talk will be delivered by Managing Director of Canterbury Auction Galleries, Dave Parker.
