‘The most mellifluous vocal group this side of Heaven’ (The Times) ORA Singers presents an exciting programme celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, combining classic musical works from the time of Good Queen Bess with pieces written by modern-day composers in the reign of Elizabeth II. The iconic O Lord, make thy servant Elizabeth by the ‘Father of English Musick’ William Byrd, opens the concert, and is book-ended by a specially commissioned reflection from renowned composer Bob Chilcott.
The two ages are tied together with a selection of musical gems from the likes of Tallis, Gibbons, Johnson and Finzi, Rutter, Panufnik and Britten. Creating a bridge between these two great monarchies, this programme celebrates Queen Elizabeth II and the centuries-long legacy that she represents.
