contraband is an exciting new project that will showcase talented musicians aged 14-21  from across the Canterbury district in a professionally managed live setting. As well as a chance to share your tracks with a Festival audience, it’s also a great way to gain experience of working with a team of professional sound technicians and an opportunity to meet other bands and musicians from the area to help build a live music hub for young artists. This is a free to attend event as part of our 2024 public engagement programme, so is the perfect opportunity to invite friends and family to a live show in the city centre. 

The event will take place as part of Canterbury Festival 2024 with bands taking to the Festival Club stage at Westgate Hall on Friday 25 October from 11am – 4pm.
