Securing the Future of Canterbury Festival

The work of the Foundation is crucial to securing the future of the Festival. With government funding for the Arts disappearing, the Foundation has undertaken to contribute to the Festival’s annual running costs to help redress the gap between what the Festival actually costs, and the amount that can be raised through ticket sales.

Together with the Festival Friends, the Foundation organises fundraising events throughout the year. These are open to anyone to enjoy and are a great way to meet like-minded people and become part of the ‘Festival Family’.

The Foundation is dedicated to the future not only of the Festival – but to developing the talents of the next generation of performers. The annual Bursary Competition awards a prize of £1,000 – to be spent on tuition, a new instrument or even a smart outfit for the concert platform! Previous winners have highlighted the crucial role this support has played in their career development.
