Open House: Pop Up Exhibition!

Catch the Open House pop up exhibition at Rock Paper Scissors (22 Stour Street) and Teastones Tea room (3 Sun Street) throughout the festival. And come check the houses out at night for a illuminating surprise…

Here’s a glimpse of some of their work-in-progress before your visit!

Over 50 participants from local homeless charities – Catching Lives, Porchlight and Forward Trust – took part in workshops to create a mini cityscape, inspired by this year’s National Poetry Day word – Refuge.

Working with Medway audio-visual artist, Jane Pitt, participants created individual identity boxes exploring the themes of refuge, shelter and homelessness, in relation to their own narratives.

Together, these boxes come together to create a mini cityscape of memories and hopes of a home.

Alongside a soundscape created by Jane Pitt, a look into these houses is sure to be a moving experience. Visit Rock Paper Scissors (22 Stour Street) and Teastones Tea room (3 Sun Street), all day between Saturday 21 Oct and Saturday 4 Nov.
