Step Into Spring 2024 – Festival of Walking

Friday 5 – Sunday 7 April

Spring is just around the corner and Canterbury Festival invites you to strap on your walking boots and join them for an adventure in the great outdoors. Last year’s Step into Spring – Festival of Walking proved to be a hit and was a fantastic way to raise much needed funds for the charity’s annual Festival and year-round public engagement programme.

This year’s event will take place from 5 – 7 April with expert-led walks in and around Canterbury, that have been generously donated by organisations and individuals from across the city.

Exploring history, art and even the supernatural, there are informative and fun walks to suit all tastes. Walk in the footsteps of Christopher Marlowe in Kit’s Canterbury; discover what life was like for Chaucer, his characters and Canterbury in the 14th Century; and explore the different kings and queens who lived and visited Canterbury from 597 AD.

View Canterbury differently through times of War and Peace; or learn about the Old Park over its thousands of years from pre-history to World War 2.

Art lovers will have the chance to tour the city’s public artworks that are embedded and often overlooked in the urban landscape. Have you ever seen a ghost? Whether or not you’re a believer, we can guarantee that you will absolutely love this tour of Canterbury’s grisly history and spooky goings on.

Tickets for each walk are £14 and must be purchased in advance as numbers are limited and sessions fill up quickly.
