Luca Viganò: Fairy Tales, Cybersecurity and AI

Kent College Lecture

Thursday 17 October, 5.30pm
The Great Hall, Kent College
Tickets £14 (Incl. £1.50 booking fee)

For generations, children around the world have experienced the timeless wonder of fairy tales. But most don’t realise that fairy tales are full of stories that illustrate the key concepts of cybersecurity and artificial intelligence.

In this talk, Luca Viganò, Head of the Cybersecurity Group at the Department of Informatics of King’s College London, will show that Cinderella is actually about multi-factor authentication, how Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves provides important lessons in eavesdropping and anonymity, and even that the adventures of Pinocchio are really an exploration of the ethics of AI. Through telling these stories, Luca will show how using art and stories can help people to better understand these complex but very important topics.

Talks will last approximately one hour followed by a Q&A.
