As programming for this year’s Festival continues, we can guarantee that the Festival Friends will certainly be getting some great benefits this year with their priority booking for the many fabulous events we have lined up, including The Sixteen and award winning saxophonist and BBC3 presenter, Jess Gillam, to name but two!

Festival Friends receive a brochure before the general mailing list goes out and can begin booking tickets two weeks before they go on general sale. Smaller events like Walks sell out quickly, so being a Friend has a distinct advantage, and priority booking also allows Friends to book their chosen seats before the rush. Friends also receive discounts on selected Festival events, details of which are sent with the brochure, plus there are last minute offers made just to the Friends.

The Friends are not just for the Festival; there are also some super fundraisers organised by the Friends’ Committee throughout the year. This year we have a Vineyard Walk, Archaeological Walks, our very popular Summer Picnic and Concert at Barham, the Poet of the Year Competition and, for Christmas, a performance of Lady Bracknell’s Confinement is planned.

The Friends were established to support the Canterbury Festival and over the years have contributed enormously to the Festival, not just to the two-week Festival itself but also to it’s important outreach work with partners such as Catching Lives, local community organisations, and, importantly, with universities and schools to encourage and involve young people in the arts.

You can take advantage of all these benefits and contribute to all the Festival does year-round for a subscription of as little as £25 per year.
