Luxmuralis return to Canterbury Festival! Prepare for Renaissance

Luxmuralis follow up last year’s incredible Shine at Canterbury Cathedral with a thrilling opening to this year’s Canterbury Festival – prepare for Renaissance.

Last year’s three-day event proved to be a huge hit with people travelling from across Kent to witness Canterbury’s most iconic landmark stunningly transformed. This year the Festival have extended the event over five days – offering as many people as possible the chance to experience this unforgettable new event.

Journey into the Renaissance world through the eyes of the artists and creatives of that time, brought to life in a spectacular son-et-lumiere experience that will highlight, transform and envelope the architectural features of our stunning cathedral.

The Renaissance was a time of major transformation in the world, through cultural, artistic, political and economic growth from the 14th to the 17th century. Some of the greatest thinkers emerged through this period, changing the world forever.

Luxmuralis projections in Salisbury Cathedral

Luxmuralis invite the viewer to become immersed in the greatest paintings and artworks of the time, to explore through light art and bespoke compositions the wonder and awe that revolutionised Europe, and bridged the gap from the dark ages to modern day civilisation.

Digitally and artistically created by artistic collaboration Luxmuralis, with soundscapes composed by David Harper and projections created by sculptor Peter Walker, Renaissance is an unmissable experience for people of all ages.

This event is generously sponsored by Canterbury Festival Headline Sponsor University of Kent and Quinn Estates. Supported by Canterbury Cathedral.
