Open Clay – Join in with Building Bridges Together

Open Clay – Building Bridges Together is a 3D ceramics project created in collaboration with national creative learning company Clayground Collective. Come and participate in this FREE and fun clay-based sculptural activity. Fri 27 Oct, 10am-4pm on Guildhall Street.

A project for people of all ages to get stuck in! By making and playing with clay, you can explore its potential to create something meaningful. Those who create in clay can learn multi-discipline information, as well as appreciate how to collaborate and work together in social settings.

Take a look at what Clayground Collective workshops have built in the past below.

Inspired by the theme of Refuge – this year’s National Poetry Day word – Clayground Creative directors Duncan Hooson and Claire West will lead this creative learning project, as we learn and build an impressive cityscape together.

While you create, you can learn about Canterbury’s historic architecture, hidden spaces and migrating communities – from the Romans, pilgrims, the Huguenots, to the contemporary city of today.

You can reflect what you learn in the building you create, or just recreate your favourite part of Canterbury!

Open Clay – Building Bridges Together is also providing the perfect opportunity for ceramic students at Canterbury College to get professional skills practice – they’ll be supporting Duncan and Claire in running the project, and receiving training on how to support the public in interactive workshops.

As our Creative Learning Partner, Canterbury College is also welcoming Duncan Hooson to lead Master Classes, offered to students and staff, to learn more about his work.

Don’t miss out on your chance to put your stamp on our clay cityscape!
