Summer Concert at Barham Court, Canterbury

Sunday 28 July 2019, Summer Concert and Picnic at Barham Court.

The Friends of Canterbury Festival are delighted to announce that the Summer Picnic and Concert is back on Sunday 28th July!

Time to prepare a tasty picnic and chill a bottle of Champers ready to spend a wonderful afternoon listening to the Orbi Playa Big Band in the gorgeous gardens of Barham Court (courtesy of Kate Neales and Peter Cox).

The band will mostly be playing instrumental and vocal favourites from the golden era of the Big Band, made popular by the likes of Glen Miller, Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Benny Goodman, but Big Band music still flourishes and the programme will include some more contemporary compositions in a range of styles to bring a bit of spice to the afternoon.

Tea and coffee will be on sale in the garden. Gates open at 5.30 and the band strikes up at 6.30. The dress code is ‘British Summer’ so you can bring your boater or wear your wellies. There is car parking available and a wet weather venue if needed. Bring your own tables and chairs.

So, come along and enjoy a lazy afternoon with good music in beautiful surroundings and (fingers crossed) lovely weather. A superb way to support the Festival!

Tickets are £15 each, available from the Canterbury Festival Office on 01227 452853 or email [email protected].
