Summer in Barham 2023

We are delighted to present our third Summer in Barham mini-festival fundraiser, celebrating the long days of July with music and walks in the idyllic setting of Barham, just a short journey from the city centre.

Summer in Barham will run from 20 – 23 July with events taking place within the stunning grounds of Barham Court, as well as Barham’s historic St John the Baptist Church.

We welcome concert violinist Alda Dizdari for an intimate performance in Barham Church on Thursday 20 July, where she presents and performs a solo violin programme featuring some of the most important works written for the instrument, from Bach to Ysaÿe and contemporary composers, including Alda’s own father, the Albanian composer Limos Dizdari.

On Saturday 22 July the stage moves to the stunning gardens of Barham Court, presenting an evening of Celtic, world and original music with troubadour trio the Hot Rats. Featuring brilliant fiddle player Ian Cutler, singer and guitarist Doug Hudson and Bass player Scott Kirk, you are guaranteed to be up on your feet. Expect a show packed full of talent and showmanship to soundtrack your sunset.

On Sunday 23 July the music continues. Boasting four singers supported by a seven-piece band with full horn section, Rubber Biscuit hit the stage with live music as it should be – energetic, infectious and fun! With a repertoire that covers a wide range of genres, spanning many decades – you can expect to hear favourites from Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Madness, Stevie Wonder and many more.

We’ll be announcing our walks next week so keep your eyes peeled for updates.

Performances at Barham Court are outdoors, so be sure to pack a picnic, blanket or camping chairs and an umbrella just in case. Raffles will be taking place on Saturday 22 July and Sunday 23 July with some fabulous prizes available – every ticket purchased will help to raise funds for the annual October Festival and year-round work.
